Man in a Red Turban by Jan Van Eyck
We were discussing this piece in my art history class, and I found it very interesting. It is a self portrait of Jan Van Eyke. I found it curious that he would depict himself with facial expression. The stare coming from his face, looking directly at the viewer, makes this a very realistic piece. The stare on his face was the main reason I liked this piece. I wonder why he chose to paint himself wearing turban. It makes me wonder if he wore a turban on a regular basis or if it was just a spur of the moment decision.

Week One
This is a picture I stumbled across as I was on the internet. I found this picture interesting and slightly humerous. The water was created almost perfectly and holds very similiar characteristics to a real flame. Another interesting part of the picture is the wick of the candle is black and looks like it is burning. This is a very simple idea that turned into a great image.
